A warm-toned fir mantelpiece, belted with steel, softens the masonry fireplace. One of the homeowners says she wanted the house “to re-create some of what I remember growing up. My grandmother had a beach house in Grayland, Washington. It was a tiny cabin that family and friends crammed into every chance we got. I remember people sleeping everywhere.”
