Vibrant colors and daring designs boost visual appeal at this Florida architect's home.
In the master bedroom, ceramic birds perched on rustic shelves were painted to match the pale blue that crops up in throw pillows, the geometric carpet, and the ceiling. "The room has a little drama, but it's not too serious," Tim says.
Black frames unify family photos and other images in the downstairs guest room, creating a bold and dramatic side wall.
Suggesting a festive beach cabana, multihued stripes converge in the boys' playroom, where hardy outdoor fabric covers a sleeper sofa.
Outdoor-fabric curtains frame doorways in the side porch off the living area. "It's my favorite place to watch a football game on a cool fall day," Tim says.
The white walls, curtains, and rug in the living room allow punches of color―whether on a chair, ottoman, or trim―to have greater impact.
Colorful resin rectangles punctuate the aluminum poles that line the stairway.
Tim's playful approach extends to painted ceiling panels and letters etched on kitchen cabinet doors. "I don't know my way around the kitchen, so if I'm looking for pancake syrup, Paige can say, 'Look in cabinet C,'" Tim explains.
