It's all about texture in the cottage's living room, where the rough edges of the coffee and side tables, which were constructed using a mahogany tree felled during Hurricane Wilma, are paired with contrasting jute and hide rugs.

Two custom built matching swings sway at either end of the cottage's porch to set the mood for nightly his-and-hers wind-downs.

Channel Your Softer Side

The elegant chandeliers and pale pink ceiling bring a romantic, feminine aesthetic to the dining room, which is otherwise more masculine thanks to the original, pickled Dade County pine walls that peek out from beneath new wainscoting.

Serve Up Something Fresh

The kitchen was completely gutted and redone using crisp white cabinets, Carrara marble, and stainless steel appliances. The backsplash's glass tiles reflect the cool blue of the pool, which is just outside the back door.

Dream Big

The furnishings in the master bedroom are low in stature to make up for the limited headroom. The blue ceilings used throughout the house are especially important here; they channel Key West's gorgeous blue skies and create the illusion of a larger space.

The homeowners' grandchildren flock to this family favorite: the Key lime green guest room that also doubles as a home office. The walls are a custom shade by Benjamin Moore. Try the brand's Willow Springs Green for a similar look.

Be Generous With Guests

What once functioned as a maid's home is now a poolside retreat for visitors. The homeowners picked a cheery, buttercup yellow hue for the walls and added French doors to let light in and take advantage of the courtyard views. A handsome pitched ceiling contributes to the airy feeling.
