Settled by English loyalists after the American Revolution, Harbour Island is only half a mile wide and 3 miles long. The Vouch/Knowles family weekend retreat reflects the island's original Colonial-style architecture. Bright colors punctuate radiant white walls against the backdrop of the ocean and sky.

Custom-colored, hand-screened fabrics cover the sofa and woven hyacinth-wicker armchairs. Throughout the house, lampshades sport matching fabrics and whimsical trims. Plain "white shades didn't cut it," says interior designer Jack Fhillips. "After all, the home had to reflect a good-time attitude."
