Clever design tricks make even a narrow galley kitchen seem surprisingly roomy. Homeowner Trish Becker wisely installed smaller-than-standard appliances into her renovated Harbour Island, Bahamas, cottage (see the whole home here) to save countertop space in the busiest room of the house. The cypress walls and cabinetry are painted bright white, and the simple open shelves are furnished simply for an airy feel. Antique nautical maps, model sailboats, and seagrass accents (an easy runner and a wrapped vase), give the room a laidback island feel.
