"When we first bought the house, the woodwork was painted a dark ebony color. It didn't have the feel of a beach house at
all," Sydney says. "By painting the woodwork white and adding lots of white furniture, we gave the house an open and airy
feel. People think that white furniture is crazy with the grandchildren here all the time, but really it's great. I can just
take the slipcovers off and throw them in the washing machine."
