Maritime Inspiration

The homeowners call the glass-front structure that connects the barn to the tower "the bridge." The dramatic galvanized-steel stairway utilizes authentic nautical detailing such as pipe railing, cables, and a steel platform to the study. Crediting its inspiration to a ship's gangway and the area's strong maritime heritage, the architect had it fabricated at the Lunenberg Foundry, where workers create pieces for area fishing boats.
