The New Traditionalist
The fresh American style of Scott Sanders's interiors—firmly rooted in tradition, yet always presenting an inviting, easygoing vibe—make them not just places to be looked at, but places to be lived in.

Form and Function
Sanders made the formal entryway of this home both comfortable and inviting for a busy family, who needed a space they could use on a daily basis. An antique bench and weathered plank with pegs for hanging essentials makes the space feel warm and unfussy, while the natural finishes blend with the neutral tones throughout, allowing the eye to continue to the formal living room beyond, says Sanders.

The color of the summer sky in the Hamptons served as an inspiration for the tone-on-tone blue color scheme in this room, says Scott. Accented only with shades of white, the monochromatic scheme lends a light, airy feeling to the room, enhanced by the soaring ceilings and expansive windows.

Inspired by the beachy landscape, Sanders introduced a collection of natural shells and artwork depicting coral and seashells to the subdued hues of this family room. "The connection to the outdoors instills a sense of whimsy in what would normally be considered a more serious color palette," he says.

Shades of sun and sea decorate this corner bedroom, which is situated to take full advantage of the ocean views. The ample light that flows in through the windows serves as a natural brightener for the deep blue walls.
