Test the Boundaries of Indoor/Outdoor Living

Forgo walls in an outdoor living space and install isinglass, a translucent sheet of mica that weatherproofs the room. In fair weather, simply roll it up and out of the way. “The isinglass reminds you of a boat, allowing a view but giving protection on a windy or bad-weather day,” says interior designer Christine Fink. Though the outdoor space may feel like an extension of your living room, be sure to select materials and furniture that can withstand the elements. Christine opted for a polished concrete floor topped with an outdoor rug, and outfitted the space with African teak lounge furniture and blue-gray cushions in outdoor fabric.
