Shutter Style

Tracey's husband, Richie, built Nantucket-style shutter doors to separate the study from the living room. Positioned on a salvaged barn door track, the doors easily close for complete privacy. Bonus: When open, they add distinct style—like one-of-a-kind artwork.

The study provides a comfortable place to curl up with a good book. It's furnished with a wicker settee and armchair, playful sea star-print cushions, and striped bolsters.

Architectural stone: Eldorado Stone. Windows and doors: Marvin Windows and Doors. Fabric: Robert Allen. Tables: Somerset Bay. Rugs and storage ottoman: The Company Store. Radiant heating: Uponor. Paint: Valspar.

100 Comfy Cottage Rooms

Develop your coastal cottage’s style by following these simple tricks.

Lacy curtains, fresh florals, and plenty of monogrammed pillows are just a few of the feminine touches that give this room its calming and sweet mood. Pieces scored at thrift stores and flea markets were refreshed with paint, then artfully applied to achieve the shabby-chic distressed look.
