"At times, this can be a severe, harsh environment," says architect George Graves. "This house was built to stand for many generations." He chose exterior lap siding made from fiber cement because it won't crack, rot, or warp. And, although it offers much of the same appeal as wood, it doesn't require repainting as often. "It met our design intentions, and it's very durable," he says.
