“In late August, the sun was still intense but the air had the crisp chill that reminded us that summer was coming to an end,” Christine said of her trip to Nantucket. “When I went shopping for a beach umbrella that afternoon, I was mortified to discover that most of the inventory had been picked through and all that remained was this shocking pink eyesore! Reluctantly, I purchased it and headed out to Miacomet Beach, hoping not to frighten the wildlife. Much to my pleasure, the umbrella became a thing of beauty as the sun illuminated it and transformed it in to a glowing object of warmth against the steel blue of the late summer sky. I now proudly wave my pink umbrella from beach to beach whenever and wherever I can. It has become the subject of many photographs where it now resides in the Florida Keys.”
