Pringles and Pickme
Each dog Casteel photographed, like this young pair of terrier mixes, received swimming safety lessons on how to exit the pool. Pringles and Pickme swim through the water confidently.

“Any time I can use joyful images to promote rescue adoption, count me in,” says Casteel. Terrier mix Rolley’s sweet face captured on camera does just that.

Seth Behind the Scenes
Casteel photographed about 1500 puppies to get the 72 shots that are in the book. Only the dogs most comfortable in the water were photographed. “The process requires a lot of patience,” he says. “But some take to it quickly and start thriving, and those are the ones you’ll see in the book.”
