Eva sent us her favorite family beach photo of her boys―Dylan, 5, Kolbi, 3, and Shane, 2― playing in the sand at Myrtle Beach in South Carolina last summer. “I love this picture because it just captures the sweet innocence of children enjoying the simple things in life. It was a gorgeous, sunny day. We love to return to this same spot year after year,” Eva says.
The Warren Family sent us this image of a friendly crab walking on Pink Sandy Beach of Hope Town in Abaco, Bahamas.
Anna took this photograph while on a fishing trip in Key Largo, Florida, and had printed it for school at the Rhode Island School of Design, where she’s majoring in photography.
“We had been having lunch in the restaurant there on the beach and I saw the umbrellas,” Lynn says. “The colors were brilliant against the sand and water.”
“I took this through a mixture of fog and mist on an October morning,” Cliff says. “We love the Oregon coast. This photograph looks like it could be a watercolor.”
“This was taken of my two dogs, Bubba and Maya, keeping the waters of Catalina Island clean,” Becky says. “My husband and I have spent a number of summers moored at DeSconso Beach, Catalina. I love this picture because I love watching my dogs chill on the boat, swim, and pick up trash and seaweed. The boys on the trash barge love them, too!

“I took this picture of a pier off the coast of North Carolina in 2004,” Kristyn says. “While my husband and I were dating, we spent a number of inexpensive vacations at a quaint seaside motel on Topsail Island. The photograph is special because a storm has since torn the pier down, and economic development replaced our old motel with a street of glamorous beach houses. But the place is still all about memories for us. Living landlocked as we do in Pittsburgh, we still try to make it to Topsail Island in the summer and probably always will.”
“The photo was taken on Lake Zug in Switzerland. I just love this picture because it captures the beauty of the lake with the mountain right over the water,” Rachel says. “That was by far the best family vacation we have ever been on.”
“I took this photo of my middle granddaughter, Kaylee, making snow angels in the sand on the beach at Matanzas Inlet,” Paul says. “Because it was December, she thought about the snow angels she would be making if she were back home in Indiana, so she decided to try to make a snow angel in the beach sand. If she had been wearing gloves and boots, and with the beach toys hidden, one would have thought this was a snow setting!”
“I have visited Tybee Island every summer of my life. I will be 70 in January 2010, and my first trip to Tybee Island was in the summer of 1940. My favorite time is the off-season, when all the crowds are gone. For the past five years, I have brought in the New Year with a kayak paddle trip on New Year’s Day across the Back River through Jack’s Cut and out to the ocean,” Margery says.
“This photograph was taken on the North Shore of Oahu, during the semester that I spent studying in Hawaii,” Lindsey says. “This is one of my favorite beaches, because of its clear blue water and perfect white sand. The North Shore is so peaceful and beautiful, and I have wonderful memories of watching this white boat float along the coast. It’s hard to believe this very spot is right down the street from the Pipeline, where the waves grow huge during the winter months and several big surfing competitions are held. It was amazing to watch the ocean transform itself like that.”
“I love this photo because of how the clouds perfectly framed the boat. The sunset was amazing!” Makenna says of this photo taken on Del Mar Beach, California.
