Why We Shop in Palm Beach
Two words: Worth Avenue. This broad, palm-lined avenue anchors a charming series of courtyards and alleyways lined with chic shops of every style and purview. In other words, Palm Beach was made for shopping, and anyone who doesn’t spend a leisurely hour or two (even if it’s just to look) in the neighborhood has missed one of this cosmopolitan getaway’s strongest suits.
On the magical walkways of Via Mizner, this bright boutique reflects a knowing curation of a little bit Palm Beach prep (colorful Isla tunics) and island boho chic. See the latter category for Kilim flats and satchels, tassel necklaces, leather clutches with Mexican-style cut-outs, and the Panama hat you’ve needed for years. And of course, the house-designed preppy belts featuring sailor’s knots, anchors, maragaritas and many more maritime icons, are a must.
Few items of footwear define a lifestyle more than the distinctive hand-made slippers from this estimable purveyor. The showroom is a tiny emporium of craving (not to mention catching sale prices from time to time) that peeks out on charming Via Parigi from beneath bright Mediterranean arches. Whether it’s a classic Ivy League crest against velvety black or a bright parrot on a nubby cayenne slipper, you’re stepping out in pure Palm Beach style.
One of our savviest Palm Beach friends considers this opulent little shop on Via Mizner his go-to for every need—and desire. And who can argue? Whether it’s a new scent or skin product, sunglasses, brightly colored little homewares or gorgeous scented candles, there’s a gift for everyone… and oneself… here. (And if you’re in Miami, Babalu has a sister on Lincoln Road and a pop-up shop at The Raleigh.)
What we love best about this perfect spot for your next bikini/maxi/coverup/bangle/sunglasses purchase (or the perfect spot for the oh-my-god-I-can't-believe-I-forgot-my-bikini/maxi/coverup/bangle/sunglasses-moment) is that there’s a Tiki bar in the store that offers complimentary rum and Caribbean beer. And what could be better than shopping resort fashion with a rum drink in hand? Nothing.
No time to get to Capri this season? No problem. The Tesorone brothers bring Capri to you with their own Italian-crafted sandals ranging from the simplest summer style in creamy white leather to custom-bejeweled flats and heels. You’ll want to wear a pair on the spot—they’re that tempting.
