Part of Yachats' appeal lies in the largely undeveloped coastline. Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, about two miles south of downtown, has 26 miles of hiking trails, including the Captain Cook Trail, which weaves down the shore to a kaleidoscope of tide pools. The 2,700-acre park is also home to breathtaking views, namely the Cape Perpetua Overlook, one of the highest points that visitors can drive to on the Oregon Coast.
