New Orleans,  Louisiana
An unassuming restaurant on Oak Street with communal tables made from old doors refinished by co-owner Krista Pendergraft-May, the restaurant's décor is a testament to dumpster diving, from the liscense plates on the walls to the antique cans used as light fixtures. Ceiling fans whir as babies sleep in strollers and groups of businessmen bend industriously over their chowders, chili fries, and apple pies. It's a place where you can get a good burger and a great fish taco, but not WiFi.
