This beloved local institution is dedicated to the heroism of stalwart islanders who routinely braved all odds to rescue shipwrecked sailors. Fresh from a $3 million renovation, the location exhibits more than 5,000 locally found objects, including surfboats, beach carts, and poignant vintage photographs. Don't miss the museum's Shipwreck Gallery for chilling accounts of daring rescues, including The Great Gale of 1879, when more than 40 sailors were saved.
