Once the preserve of hippies and back-to-naturists, a laid-back town on Mexico's Caribbean coast is luring a new set of stylish travelers without sacrificing an iota of its quirky charm.

The sybaritic charms of this town are certainly not hard to find, whether your idea of bliss is seeking serenity in a temazcal (the traditional Mayan sweat lodge) or toasting icy margaritas next to the infinity pool. But it's the residual quirkiness here, the prevailing attitude that life really shouldn't be taken too seriously, that ultimately makes Tulum shine.
