Location: Oceanfront, steep path to beach

Getting there: Fly into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and drive two and a half hours to the town of Anacortes. Catch a Washington State Ferry for the scenic one-hour cruise to Orcas Island. Kenmore Air (800/543-9595) offers daily flights from Seattle to Orcas; flying time is 35 minutes.

Amenities: Woodstove with firewood, central heat, full kitchen, gas grill, all linens, flat-panel TV with DVD player, hammock

Need-to-know info: The cottage is not equipped to accommodate small children. No smoking. Pets are permitted with a deposit and surcharge during quiet season (Oct 10-May 6). Two-night minimum stay.
