How to Throw a Patriotic Picnic
Celebrate summer holidays in all their red, white, and blue glory with this classic throw-down.
Summer at the beach means playing in the surf and sun, firing up the grill, and being with friends. And we can't help but gravitate toward the nautical color scheme that the season's patriotic holidays bring. For our red, white, and blue fete here, we've rounded up a July 4th-worthy spread of party gear and of course, the perfect cupcake. Combine these finds with some of our favorite summer appetizers, grilling recipes, and cocktails, and you're in for one terrific throwdown by the shore.
Set the Scene:
Place Adirondack chairs in a semicircle around a fire—the arrangement will ensure that guests have equal access to the flames and views to the horizon. Soft throw blankets and overstuffed outdoor pillows amp up the coziness.
Serve this: Celebration Cupcakes
These striped sweets feature the color palette of the hour and a mountain of creamy white icing. We upped the colorful ante with pretty cupcake liners. (We also love these nautical ones!)
