Makeover your sleep space for a steal (or a splurge!) with these delightful room redos that are anything but snooze-worthy.
Popular belief suggests that the bedroom should be your sanctuary – a space that makes you feel warm and cozy and alive and energized. Fortunately, that doesn’t mean you need to dole out a bundle on decor (save it for a good-quality mattress). Coastal Living Style Director Lindsey Ellis Beatty proves here that colorful, coastal bedroom style can be achieved for $2,500 or less. Check out her dreamy looks for the budget-conscious (plus a seriously swoon-worthy splurge space we just couldn’t resist).
Rugs in a bedroom are a no-brainer for a lot of reasons: they add pattern, color, and comfort underfoot in one fell swoop. Beatty used the gorgeous budget find here as the jumping off point for a bedroom that blends sophisticated accents with beach cottage classics (like the amazing white metal bed). The fringed sheets add a touch of sass and come with a secret: They were actually scored at kid-centric retailer Land of Nod. “Even if you don’t have kids, don’t overlook sites that are geared towards them,” said Beatty. “You can often find budget-friendly things for grown-up spaces.”

From the woven bed and end tables to the wooden dresser and chunky throw, this texture-packed room has all the makings of a cozy retreat. “I love that woven bed!,” said Beatty. “I started with that piece and created a relaxed, casual look around it by layering it with a fun rug, a textured blanket, and a super soft pillow,” said Beatty. “The modern lamps keep things interesting, and the Cactus print added to the Cali cool look. I’m a sucker for a trend, and cacti are so in right now!”

When Coastal Living editors drift off into REM sleep, this is the stuff of our dreams. “Pretty colors and a mix of fine textures up the luxe factor of this look,” said Beatty. “Blush pink and seafoam is a perfect palette for a soothing beach bedroom, and handwoven wool, grasscloth, linen, and marble all play well together.” An eclectic painting by artist Maren Devine (available through Etsy) ties the hues together.
