These Gorgeous Beach Houses Were Featured in Coastal Living, and Now You Can Rent Them
If you’ve ever fantasized about stepping into the pages of our magazine (who hasn’t?), here's your chance.
From swoon-worthy sleeping porches to blissful beach kitchens, Coastal Living has had the pleasure of photographing some pretty fab spaces over the years. And if you’ve ever wondered what it must be like to live, eat, nap, toast, or just chill post-beach in a magazine-worthy pad, here’s some good news. We wrangled five of our favorite cottage stars that are currently on the rental market, so you can live like a style pro for a week or a weekend. The best part? They’re all on islands. Who’s ready for a vacation?
Pink Paradise, Harbour Island, Bahamas
Featured: June 2017; Rent it!
Talk about the quintessential island cottage. Bathed in happy hues inside and out, this 1,800-square-foot home is located in the heart of Dunmore Town and just a short walk to the pink sand beach. It’s the product of serial house rescuer Trish Becker, who gave new life to the 19th-century home’s dated interiors. We’re digging the cottage’s ample outdoor lounge space, from the front porch swing to the second-floor patio and widow’s walk with bird’s eye bay views.
Cover Crush, Tybee Island, Georgia
Featured: November 2014; Rent it!
You might remember this character-filled 1940s bungalow for its cheerful façade—so welcoming in fact that it earned the top spot as our Coastal Living November cover. The “happy shack” was transformed by owner Evelyn Kelly and designer Jane Coslick, who infused her trademark colorful style and vintage charm. The quirky duplex is divided into two units, both fetching a reasonable $175 per night, and is located just steps from the beach and Tybee’s iconic lighthouse.
Island Gem, Harbour Island, Bahamas
Featured: September 2015; Rent it!
Leave it to Trish Becker (again) to take a down-on-its-luck near-tear-down and turn it into an unbelievably alluring escape. Nicknamed “Jewel Box,” the cottage is a treasure trove of island charm, from the bright blue shutters and white-washed cedar walls to the mix of vintage teak and woven furnishings. In addition to inviting outdoor living and dining rooms, the alfresco space includes a shower and (newly built) swimming pool. We’re ready to jump in.Related: The Best Airbnbs Have These 7 Things In Common
Casual Quarters, Maui, Hawaii
Featured: February 2012; Rent it!
For the family who built it, this plantation-style stunner on Maui is all about fuss-free relaxation. Situated on three blissfully private acres, the off-the-beaten-path property has sweeping ocean views, a 40-foot saltwater pool, and hundreds of tropical plants and trees. Despite its remote feel, beaches and the Haiku town center are just a short ride away, though we imagine it'll be difficult to tear yourself away from the home's breezy lanais and professional chef-quality kitchen.
Tropical Splendor, Lyford Cay, Bahamas
Featured: November 2017; Rent it!
If your decorating resolution is to be bolder with color and pattern, this idea-filled Caribbean getaway offers plenty of fodder for your inspiration board. Designer Amanda Lindroth prettied up the ‘70s-era pad with daring design details like electric coral trim, statement chandeliers, and meticulous pattern mixing. For $2,750 a night, you can witness the magic in person (plus gain access to serene golf course views and a pristine beach a short golf cart ride away).
