And it’s inspired by water, so we’re fully on board with it.

We’re not even halfway through the year quite yet, but in the world of trend forecasters, 2019 is already on the mind.

Pantone released their super-advanced guide to color months ago, and recently, our friends at Etsy also weighed in on a predicted trend that’s poised to dominate art and design in the new year.

Meet “the liquid effect,” an artful application of color that’s taking over everything from ceramics to artwork. Just as its name implies, the finished product resembles swirled, stirred, and splashed liquid, with gentle curves that mimic the natural movement of waves or water.

This, naturally, makes it a great fit for a beach house. We could see the liquid effect bringing a subtle beachy touch to a vase atop a fireplace mantle or the base of a lamp. Dinner and serving plates would also welcome the artsy motif—and bring a pop of color to your beach house dining table.
