Joanna Gaines Is All About This Controversial Decorating Move
Would you give it a whirl?
Whether we're arranging place settings or adding a pop of color to a coffee table, we love bringing in fresh flowers. But faux blooms (yes, the old silk-and-wire numbers), seem to be having a serious moment. We can understand the appeal: They're eco-friendly, affordable, and can last forever.
And now artificial flora is even more available, thanks to Joanna Gaines's latest line for Target. The design queen and star of HGTV's "Fixer Upper" has made it clear that she's all about bringing faux stems into the home.
"[Artificial stems] are great because you can work with blooms that aren't in season. They're extremely low-maintenance and you won't have to worry about them wilting," Gaines says in a Target promotional video for the Gaineses' Hearth & Hand line. For the most natural look, Gaines sticks to one type of flower per arrangement, teases out the branches to "give them a little life and movement," and adds water to the vase (which you can switch out for fresh H2O as needed).
The new Vases and Stems Collection includes clear, seaglass-, and wheat-hued vases of varying shapes and sizes and faux dogwood, eucalyptus, and astilbe.
One less thing to worry about when hosting a last-minute dinner party? We might have to give it a whirl.
