Judy Garland's Former Malibu Beach Home Is a Total Dream—And It's For Sale
On the silver screen, film legend Judy Garland might have wanted to take Toto home to Kansas or meet you in St. Louis. In her spare time, however, she was all about this idyllic retreat in Malibu.
According to the LA Times, Garland purchased the then-brand-new home in 1947 while married to film and stage director Vincente Minnelli. The three-bedroom home is blessed with a five-star address, and here’s the kicker: You don’t need a pair of ruby red slippers to turn this clifftop stunner into your personal Land of Oz. The beachfront home was just listed on Trulia for $3.69 million.
Since Garland’s ownership, the property has undergone some changes, including a to-the-studs renovation in 2013. Standout features include a wrap-around Ipe deck, sprawling accordion doors in the living room, and a private second-level sundeck in the master bedroom—perfect for catching a California sunset.
We’re swooning for the home's breezy vibe achieved by the all-white interiors and abundance of natural light. On cooler evenings, we would have a hard time peeling ourselves off the couch in front of the grand double-sided fireplace, which you can also enjoy from the kitchen. Ready to move in yet?
