Earlier this year, Margaritaville—the lifestyle brand inspired by coastal icon Jimmy Buffett’s songs and laidback way of life—announced its first retirement community, Latitude Margaritaville, in Daytona Beach, Florida, to the joy of parrotheads nearing retirement.

Now, Buffett fans have another reason to celebrate: Margaritaville has just announced a second Latitude Margaritaville location in Hilton Head, South Carolina. This second community, based on Margaritaville’s worry-free, tropical vibe, is located just off Hilton Head Island, in the heart of Lowcountry, close to both Savannah, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina (and the sunny shores of South Carolina, of course).

The “55-and-better community” is a joint venture from community developer Minto Communities and Margaritaville. The active adult residential community will be 2,739 acres, with amenities similar to those of the Daytona Beach community, including a 290,000-square-foot retail center with specialty stores, a Margaritaville-style restaurant, a grocery store, and entertainment venues.

Latitude Margaritaville Hilton Head will also have a resort-style pool; a fitness center; a social hall; game and hobby rooms; arts and learning programs; indoor and outdoor dining with signature restaurants; and tennis and pickleball courts. Best of all, the community’s design will be influenced by South Carolina’s classic coastal architecture.

Currently, more than 3,000 homes are planned, with a wide range of designs and floor plans. Prices are expected to start in the low $200,000s. Development will begin immediately, with a sales center opening in early 2018. In Florida, the Daytona Beach community has already broken ground, and model homes are scheduled to open in early 2018.
