If you’re a former subscriber to Coastal Living, or just a fan of life on the coast, the new Spring 2019 issue should come as very good news. As we announced last fall, Coastal Living is transitioning from a subscription-based magazine published 10 times a year to a richer, more robust newsstand-based magazine published quarterly. When you hold this issue in your hands—hopefully on a beach somewhere, with waves crashing in the background—you can feel the difference. We’ve improved the paper dramatically, increased the number of editorial pages by 40 percent, and given the magazine a fresh new design that captures the essence of living by the sea.

Coastal Living

Everything you love about Coastal Living is here—and then some. You’ll get an inside look at some of the most well-designed homes on the coast, from a Colonial-style escape in Palm Beach to a vibrant vacation home in the Bahamas to a quirky lakefront cottage in Michigan. If you’re in the mood for seaside adventures, we have those, too: John Huey’s cruise through the hidden islands of the South Carolina Lowcountry and Jonathan Miles’s discovery of the Old Florida secret that is Cedar Key. If you’re looking for more of a permanent vacation, read Jennifer Brunnemer Slaton’s cover story on the Best Places to Live, a list of beachside towns and communities from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, to Half Moon Bay, California. We’re calling this The Dream Issue, after all, so why not start living the dream?

In the weeks after we announced the transition of Coastal Living to a newsstand-based publication, we heard from hundreds of subscribers. “It was the bright ray of sunshine that appeared each month in my mailbox,” said one reader from California. “It is the most perfect magazine on the market—my absolute favorite magazine of all time,” said another from Tampa, Florida. A reader from Georgia called it “my little piece of paradise.”

Speaking for the staff of Coastal Living, I can tell you that we feel the same way. Part of the allure of living on the coast is that you can always reinvent yourself, reconnect with the natural world, and recharge your batteries. There’s no better place to make a fresh start or dream about the future, and that was the inspiration behind this spring issue. Whether you’re a former subscriber or you’re discovering Coastal for the first time, we hope you enjoy every sun-drenched page. See you in the summer!
