The beauty of a classic margarita can’t be denied, but this beer-laden mixture is just as refreshing on a hot summer day. The effervescent sipper is at its best when topped off with a Mexican-style lager (a brew born out of German and Austrian immigrants brewing in Mexico). For the best results, we recommend the El Sully from 21st Amendment Brewery, a San Francisco brewpub nestled in the historic South Park neighborhood and hailed by the San Francisco press.
Test Kitchen Tip: Pre-chill the beer and orange juice to keep the cocktail cold and less inclined to water down the ice cubes. For a super fizzy and frothy beverage, be sure to add the beer just before serving.
¼ cup fresh orange juice
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons (1 oz.) silver tequila
2 tablespoons (1 oz.) orange liqueur
½ cup chilled Mexican-style lager beer (such as 21st Amendment Brewery El Sully)
Lime slices, for garnish
How to Make It
Combine fresh orange juice, fresh lime juice, silver tequila, and orange liqueur in a tall, ice-filled glass, and stir. Top with chilled Mexican-style lager beer (such as 21st Amendment Brewery El Sully), and stir gently. Garnish with lime slices.
