How to Make It

Bring water to a boil in a saucepan over high. Add demerara sugar, and cook, whisking  vigorously, until sugar is dissolved, about 2 minutes. Immediately remove from heat, and cool 10 minutes. Add vanilla extract and salt, and stir to combine. Pour into a bottle with a tight-fitting lid; cover and store in the refrigerator up to 3 weeks.
