Duke’s Waikiki Waikīkī, Hawai‘i
Created by Tiki pioneer Harry Yee in 1957 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village resort in Waikīkī, the drink’s titular “itch” is scratched with an excess of booze and a towering souvenir bamboo backscratcher.
1 tablespoon (1/2 oz.) vodka
1 tablespoon (1/2 oz.) orange curaçao
Dash of Angostura bitters
1/8 teaspoon orgeat syrup
1/2 cup passionfruit juice
2 tablespoons (1 oz.) dark rum
How to Make It
Fill a tall glass with ice, and add vodka, curaçao, bitters, syrup, and juice; stir well. Float dark rum on top, and garnish with a pineapple wedge, lime wedge, paper parasol, and itch stick (back scratcher).
