Royal Caribbean Is Hiring Someone to Instagram Their Cruise Adventures Around the World
There seems to be an abundance of “dream job” listings these days with companies looking for people to do everything from ski around the world, run a private island, and be a professional cat cuddler. But this new listing from Royal Caribbean is taking the dream job to a whole new level.
Last week, the cruise company announced it’s looking for one very lucky person to fill its “shore explorer apprentice-ship” position. Don’t worry, this isn’t any old apprenticeship: The person filling the role will get to travel the world and document it all for social media.
"We're looking for an adrenaline junkie who is not only hungry for adventure but also has a unique ability to capture a moment and tell a story in a simple social media post," a spokesperson for Royal Caribbean told Insider. "We already offer a huge amount of incredible, once-in-a-lifetime, on-land experiences as part of our cruise holidays — from zip-wires and white water rafting to walking on glaciers and hot air balloon rides. By launching this position, we're hoping that the winning candidate will take our shore excursion program to the next level."
As part of the job, this person will travel to Royal Caribbean’s own private island for a “Perfect Day at CocoCay,” and will also travel to Alaska, Portugal, Norway, Dubai, and Japan to capture more content. The winner will also get to tag along with photographer and Royal Caribbean’s “Instagrammer In Chief” Russ Francis. According to Francis, he was given that amazing title after winning a similar competition two years ago.
For capturing and posting photos and videos, the applicant will be paid £2,000 ($2,616) a week, as well as have all transfers, room, and meals paid for.
To enter, you need to be a British or Irish citizen 21 years of age or older (sorry, Americans) and post an “extraordinary travel story, video or image on Instagram” via Instagram stories, IGTV, or an Instagram post and tag @RoyalCaribbeanUK and #ShoreExplorer by March 1.
The applications will then be judged by The Vamps’ James McVey, Royal Caribbean managing director Ben Bouldin, travel writer Nadia El Ferdaoussi, and Francis.
