Dogfish Head is the Best Coastal Brewery of the Summer
For more than 20 years, this Delaware spot has been serving up rich, complex brews (with awesome food pairings, to boot)—and now it’s been voted the best brewery of the summer!
Every week from Memorial Day through Labor Day, our readers are voting for the best spots of the summer—and this week’s winner for the Best Coastal Brewery is Dogfish Head, in Milton, Lewes, and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware!
Since 1995, this Delaware brewery has been at the front of the East Coast’s microbrewery wave. Despite a growing repertoire of brews (including 20 beer varieties and handcrafted spirits) and three locations, plus an inn, Dogfish Head preserves its close-knit, neighborhood pub vibe. In Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, the Rehoboth Beach brewpub, playfully rustic canoes and wooden boats hang from the rafters, and a long, polished bar commands the space. Visitors come for the drinks but stay for the food, from cumin lamb sliders to homemade chocolate cheesecake.

Dogfish Head is distributed in 37 states and in Washington, D.C. It’s known for its India pale ales, but the drink list at Dogfish’s venues has something for everyone. Even non-beer drinkers will fall for the merch here, which includes everything from shirts to hats to artwork, and the slogan—Off Centered Stuff For Off Centered People—welcomes all. A must-visit? Without a doubt.
