Purchased in 1931 by Hemingway and his wife Pauline, the mid-19th-century Spanish Colonial house is where the author wrote several notable works. It also has several unique features: The pool, built in 1938, was the first in-ground pool in Key West; rooms are filled with animal skins and mounted animals, souvenirs from Hemingway’s big-game hunts; and 40-50 six-toed cats, all descendents of a favorite tomcat named Snowball, roam the gardens.
