Hint: it involves lots of stars!
Nothing says romance like a breezy beach stroll under the brilliantly starry night skies of Maui—except, maybe, exchanging your wedding vows in a spot that’s just as magical.
That’s exactly what you can do with this star-lit wedding package, where couples are invited to say “I do” during an intimate nighttime ceremony on a hotel rooftop followed by some ultra-romantic stargazing.
The “Maui’d Under the Stars” package, a new offering from the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, took inspiration from the multitude of proposals during the stargazing tours on the 10th floor rooftop of the Maui resort.

“It’s already such a romantic setting—why not let them get married there?” says Frances Goss, the resort’s Director of Events.
The package includes a cozy ceremony for the couple and four guests, an officiant, two traditional Hawaiian leis for the happy couple, and (of course) a bottle of celebratory champagne. The space, an upgraded rooftop with seating for the guests, can be decorated as simply or as elaborately as the couple desires for their special moment.
Following the under-the-stars vows, the newlyweds and guests will embark on a tour of the stars with the resort’s resident Director of Astronomy Eddie Mahoney. He starts by teaching guests how to interpret the sky with the unaided eye as the ancient voyaging Polynesians did 1,000 years ago, then working up to the astronomy binoculars and the three Celestron reflector type telescopes. Based on the time of year, Mahoney will direct the telescopes to the most visible constellations, stars, planets, galaxies, and nebulae.
As Maui is only 20 degrees north of the equator, 80 of the 88 constellations are visible in the night sky, and the lack of light pollution makes it, as Mahoney calls it, an “astronomy paradise.”
Book it: Goss recommends booking the package, which starts at $5,000, at least two months out. Visit www.hyatt.com to book your stargazing ceremony.
