According to travel trends, 2018 is the year of adventure. Which means there’s no better time to finally take up the ocean’s ultimate adventure sport: surfing.

And if you’re going to learn to surf, we think snagging a spot on this hip stay-on-wheels is just about the best way to go. Meet the Truck Surf Hotel, a mobile retreat built out of a double-decker Mercedes Actros truck.

If you think sleeping in a truck sounds like roughin’ it, you haven’t met a truck like this. With a hydraulic system that allows the walls and ceilings to expand, the inside feels quite roomy. On the bottom level, a communal living space includes a mini-kitchen, built-in sofa, dining table, and sliding glass doors that open onto a balcony. Upstairs, five guest rooms can sleep up to 10. (There’s even WiFi, AC, and a full bath on the truck.)

But the real draw, of course, is the mobility. A week on board gets you a custom tour up the coasts of either Portugal or Morocco. Each morning, you’ll awake with a different ocean view (and a breakfast buffet spread out in the communal kitchen). Days can be spent at your leisure hiking, exploring the coastline, or learning to surf with the truck’s resident instructor. Tours can even be customized to include boat tours, cave tours, stand-up paddleboarding, or food and wine tasting.
